Tucked away on the Portuguese coastline just north of Lisbon, you’ll find a quaint beach town out of a story book beyond the shore break. Nazaré dominates any sight I’ve come across thus far, leaving me speechless while I delay my flight home. After a month long solo backpacking trip across Western Europe, I saved the last leg of my tour to cross off a sight I’ve had bookmarked for four years. I was completely enamoured. The waves of Nazaré are breathtakingly terrifying. This town holds an eclectic type of charm burned in my memory for a lifetime. The kindest soul gifted me a traditional tiled treasure to remember my new favourite town, while an older man sent me on my last bus with a box of pastel de nata to indulge in. These were taken on a simple Nikon I thrifted years ago, using a roll of Kodak Gold film. Once I touched down in Europe, I discovered a broken camera which left me with a broken heart. Six rolls of film undergoing airport screening for no reason. On the last day of my trip, standing over the waves of Nazaré, my camera turned back on.
